Jimmy Carr sparks speculation he may have become a father for the second time

Time:2024-04-20 06:02:00

Jimmy Carr has sparked speculation he has welcomed a second baby with his wife Karoline Copping after keeping his firstborn a secret for two years.

Fans believe that the comedian, 51, referenced becoming a father again during his set for Netflix special, Jimmy Carr: Natural Born Killer.

Jimmy and Karoline became parents for the first time in 2019 to their son Rockefeller, however the TV personality did not share the news publicly until two years later.

Jimmy, who has been with his Channel 5 exec girlfriend since 2001, said during the set: 'I'm a father now. I had kids. I'm a dad.'

The former 8 Out Of 10 Cats star notably referred to having kids as plural, rather than saying 'kid'. He thanked the audience as they cheered.

MailOnline has contacted Jimmy's representative for comment.

Jimmy first sparked speculation that he had become a dad for the first time when he was seen pushing a pram around London on several occasions.

He later confirmed the news during a stand-up routine at the O2 Academy Brixton.

The funnyman mentioned his son during an adoption joke, telling the audience: 'I had to tell my little boy he's adopted. I mean, he isn't, but the look on his face. I said, "No, no, no, you were adopted, the new family is picking you up tomorrow.''

In another joke, he said: 'We're having a gender-reveal party for our kid but we're going to wait until he's 21 just to be sure. With some babies you can't tell, is it a boy or an ugly girl?'

Jimmy spoke about his son's unusual monekier during an appearance on Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe's Parenting Hell podcast.

He said: 'It's an unusual name. I've always like surnames as first names. We go Rockefeller. I always liked Fella, I think it's a lovely thing. People always go with the Rock thing but actually Fella's a great name. Alright Fella - brilliant.'

Jimmy also discussed being a father during another comedy routine where he made a gag about how he stays young.

He said: 'I take a lot of omega-3 fish oils and I try to eat right and exercise but, let's face it, I may have forgotten all my wisdom by then and where I left my keys. At least I'll still look the part. Thanks to the wonders of my plastic surgeon, I'm hoping my son won't realise I'm older than the other dads.

'He'll come and talk to me about his problems because, unlike the other dads, I'll never seem shocked or surprised, disappointed or sad, primarily because Botox has robbed me of the ability to move my forehead. Just like everyone else you know, I'm going to die, although in my case, large parts of me will not biodegrade. I imagine my teeth will outlive us all.'

Jimmy previously spoke sweetly about how he wants his son to follow a path that 'makes his heart sing' and doesn't expect him to follow him into comedy.

He said: 'I'd love him to follow in my footsteps but not necessarily into comedy. Into whatever makes his heart sing.

'Whatever that thing is that just makes him go 'oh, I'm so happy doing this'. If you get to find that thing where you live to work and not work to live, that's for me incredible. Who wouldn't want that for their kid.'

The comedian has been in a relationship with Channel 5 commissioning editor Karoline since 2001 after meeting her at an audition.

The pair have not previously spoken about whether they would have children together.

In March 2017, he told Radio 4's Desert Island discs that his girlfriend's first impression of him was 'one-note comedian with the eyes of a sex offender'.

The star said that even though Karoline wasn't immediately taken with him, he was instantly smitten, saying: 'I knew. It felt perfect.'
